The Electrician is accountable to the District Manager, for installations and maintenance related to building electrical systems and components in a timely and cost-efficient manner to ensure uninterrupted performance of all building systems and programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs installations and repairs for property fire alarm, security and surveillance, lighting systems, etc.; follows blueprints to determine wiring for new or existing devices to ensure compliance with safety codes; troubleshoot and isolate faults in systems and replace faulty components; keeps all maintenance repair logs for the property to ensure uninterrupted operation of building systems.
Performs inspections on wiring and electrical systems to ensure it is in good working order and in compliance with laws and regulations; performs tests for electrical systems and components using test equipment for continuity, current, voltage and resistance; responsible for log keeping related to the building as well as life and safety systems.
Project Materials and Supplies
Prepares cost, time and material estimates, as well as purchases supplies and materials needed for projects, if required, submits quotes and invoices to Office Manager.
Supervises contractors working on-site; assists with various construction projects, coordinates receipts of quotes from various third-party service providers, if required.
Any other job-related duties and/or projects that may be assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Education
- High school Diploma
- Ontario College of Trade, 309A Canadian Construction & Maintenance electrician license
- Red Seal certificate
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in related trades
- Knowledge of MS office programs.
- Good communication skills both verbal and written
- Excellent technical trouble-shooting and problem solving skills
- Ability to prioritize
- Ability to work independently
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong organization skills
- Self-starter with strong time management skills.
- Valid Driver's license
- On call on a rotating basis after hours.
